Switching from Jobber to Trades Chaser: what you gain and lose
Updated 2026-07-21
Who this is actually for
This isn't a guide for a business running a dispatched crew — Jobber is built for that and does it well. This is for a solo operator or two-person shop paying Jobber's per-seat price for tools mostly built around a bigger team.
What you gain
- A lower flat price — $0–$39/mo instead of $49+/mo
- An AI bill-of-materials generator for quotes
- AI receipt scanning straight into your expenses
- Per-category annual budget tracking
- A flat add-on pack if you ever add a crew member, instead of Jobber's per-seat plan upgrade
What you lose
- Team seats top out at small add-on packs, not a real dispatch operation — there's no route optimization, GPS tracking, or dispatch board for coordinating a crew of five-plus in the field.
- No built-in card payment processing — you can display a Stripe (or other) payment link/QR on an invoice, but there's no embedded checkout or automatic payment reconciliation.
- No QuickBooks/Xero accounting sync.
- No app-store listing (Google Play/App Store) — it installs to your home screen from the browser like a native app, but isn't published in either store.
- No SMS/two-way texting with customers.
How to actually switch
- Export your customer list and any open invoices/quotes from Jobber before canceling — Trades Chaser doesn't have an automated Jobber importer, so plan on re-entering active jobs by hand
- Re-create any recurring service reminders manually — this is a one-time setup cost, not an ongoing one
- Keep Jobber active until your first few Trades Chaser invoices have actually been paid, so you're not mid-collection on two systems at once
- If you take card payments through Jobber Payments today, set up a replacement (a Stripe Payment Link works and pastes directly onto a Trades Chaser invoice) before you cancel
When not to switch
If you're actively using Jobber's QuickBooks sync, SMS, or dispatching more than one or two people, switching will cost you real functionality Trades Chaser doesn't replace yet. Weigh that against the price difference honestly before moving.
